The Challenge

Audi Academy faced significant challenges in delivering training content effectively:

  • Scattered materials: Training content spread across multiple storage locations
  • Poor mobile access: Existing solutions weren’t optimized for mobile devices
  • Limited learner control: Employees had little autonomy over their learning paths
  • Inconsistent experience: No unified platform for accessing resources

The Solution

Working with Audi Academy leadership, I led the design and development of a comprehensive iPad application tailored to their specific needs.

Dual Navigation Interfaces

Created intuitive ways to access content:

  • Resource Library: Filter and search across all training materials
  • Model Library: Visual, vehicle-focused navigation for model-specific training

Rich Content Support

The platform handles diverse content formats:

  • PDF documents for technical materials
  • Video content with offline playback
  • HTML5 modules for interactive learning
  • Quizzes and surveys for assessment and feedback

Offline Capabilities

Essential for dealership environments:

  • Full offline access to downloaded content
  • Background synchronization when connected
  • Seamless experience regardless of connectivity

Enterprise Integration

Built to work within Audi’s infrastructure:

  • MDM authentication integrating with Mobile Device Management
  • Role-based access controls for different user groups
  • LMS integration: quiz scores sync to learning management system
  • Push notifications for new content and updates

Development Approach

We followed a collaborative, iterative process:

  1. Requirements definition: Worked with Audi Academy leadership to establish phased goals
  2. UI/UX iteration: Multiple design rounds to optimize the learning experience
  3. Parallel development: Backend services built alongside frontend
  4. MDM integration: Careful coordination with existing device management
  5. Phased delivery: Core functionality first, then enhanced features

The Results

The Audi Academy App launched successfully nationwide:

  • Positive reception from dealership and corporate employees
  • Unified access to all training materials in one place
  • Flexible development: phased approach allowed scope adjustment as priorities evolved
  • Ongoing partnership: continued collaboration for feature releases
  • Empowered learners: employees control their own learning journey

Technical Approach

Enterprise-grade architecture designed for scale:

  • Native iPad development for optimal performance
  • RESTful API backend with secure authentication
  • Offline-first data architecture
  • Integration with enterprise MDM and LMS systems
  • Push notification infrastructure for engagement

This project leveraged patterns I developed while building the Porsche iTrainer platform, adapting them for Audi’s specific requirements. Both projects demonstrate my expertise in enterprise mobile development and my ability to deliver solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing corporate infrastructure.

"They consistently deliver, understand developing for the new digital age, and understand how to work with their clients."
